Dr. Sideris is passionate about helping people who suffer from sleep disorders and recognizes the symptoms before they turn into serious consequences. Snoring is the most physically noticeable precursor to identifying a person with sleep apnea. It is important to realize that most people with sleep apnea will snore; however, not all snorers have sleep apnea. Snoring is defined as an obstruction in the airway that can cause loud sounds and vibrations. Unlike snoring, sleep apnea is caused by disruptions in the airflow that prevent a person from breathing periodically throughout the night. Sometimes a patient experiences several hundred such episodes a night. Consequently, sleep apnea can be identified through snoring, but it is a far more dangerous problem if left untreated.
Many of our sleep apnea patients experience snoring, tiredness or fatigue, frequent sleep disruptions, morning headaches, changes in mood or behavior, memory loss, and choking or gasping for air in the middle of the night. Whether this is a problem that developed over time or has recently entered your life, we realize that these symptoms can often disrupt your lifestyle.
If you experience any combination of the above issues and have been given medication to mitigate the symptoms, we encourage you come see us to treat the source of the problem and to promote complete healing
